Hello,
As many of you know Utah Biodiesel Cooperative has never been able to get
off the ground in the manner we had originally hoped, when we assembled in
2004. For these reasons and several others, I have finally decided to close
down Utah Biodiesel Cooperative. We will still maintain our email
discussion list of biodiesel supporters in Utah, which is still 200+ people
strong. This will still be an excellent way to get ahold of biodiesel
enthusiasts in the state. For more info about this see
www.utahbiodiesel.org
I have chosen to write this email specifically to you all, who have been key
supporters, and have helped our organization tremendously over the years.
I wish to thank each and every one of you. In some case you have helped us
out immeasurably, and I cannot thank you enough. It has also been some time
since we last issued a newsletter (May 2007), but there are some notable
things we did, this summer, in particular. Key among them, in my opinion,
was getting biodiesel inserted into policy of the Utah climate change
initiative / BRAC and other official renewable energy initiatives, as well
as our initiatives to work together with grease collection businesses and
the Salt Lake County Health Department to help with some of the conflicts.
It was pretty neat this summer to have Renegade Oil at our facility in Heber
and actually teach them how to brew biodiesel.
Financially, we stopped taking memberships and membership renewals in June
of this summer. That said, if we still owe any membership cards to anyone,
please let me know and I will either issue a refund or extend the expiration
date to reflect the period you did not have the card. Dal Soglio, one of
our greatest supporters who I also cannot thank enough over the years, is
still honoring UBC membership cards. We do still have a small amount of
money in the bank but have some outstanding debts (advertising in the
ReDirect Guide, and sponsorship of the fall 2007 Green Building Initiative)
and if any funds are left, these will be donated to another organization
with a similar mission statement.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me any time.
Contact "at" Utahbiodiesel.org will forward to my personal email address.
Thank you again,
Andre Shoumatoff
