Generally, black smoke is a fuel to air mixture issue. Turbo ?? Turbo may be plugged up or stuck. If the turbo sticks, your engine starves for air thus causing low power and possible rough running. I would recommend MJ Auto on Redwood and around 350 south. Phone 973-4467 ( Mark) He is really good with these things. and he specializes in Mercedes.

Subject: [Biodiesel In Utah] Smoking Mercedes Traveller

There's a guy driving through Salt Lake area on a trip east.

His Mercedes started smoking pretty bad.
He swapped out the fuel filters & it's still smoking really bad.

If any of you have any suggestions for him, shoot him an email...

This guy drives across the US every year in an older Mercedes every year to a bunch of ball games touting the benefits of renewable fuels.

  Here's his website:

He was driving through Utah this weekend when his Merc died.
He's sitting at the Ken Garf Mercedes Dealership right now (read: prob. gonna pay through the nose), but figured it'd be worth sending this out to the list to see if any of you have had a similar issue.

Again, lot's of black smoke & no power & the car just quit idling & died.

He runs SVO as well as Bio in it.
