Well, I kind of beg to differ on that one.

My demonstrator has been running B100 in his 2004 Duramax Diesel and in his 2000 Duramax Diesel for almost a year now. No problems.

The stuff Dal Soglio had problems with was contaminated fuel. I talked to the place where they bought it from. There were some quality problems with it. That's been taken care of.

If you can ensure that the biodiesel is of good quality and dry and free of glycerin Duramax diesels will run it just fine.

If you'd like to see one running it, feel free to contact Kevin Newman who runs it on a regular basis (read: All the time) in his two Duramax engines.

I kind of thing that the "It won't run in a Duramax" was a bit of a cover-up for the bad fuel that was sold at the time. The fuel that was problematic was shown to be out of ASTM spec, had glycerin in it, and also had residual water in it (again, I spoke to the actual plant where it was produced & he remembers the incident well).

Dal Soglio and Cardwell now buy their fuel from another plant now that guarantees full ASTM Spec biodiesel.

There's more info on Kevin including his phone # here:

I have heard that Duramax's do not run at all with B-100 due to a computer settting (Steve from Dal-Soglio told me this about 1 year ago). My guess is that as you increased your percentage, the fuel mixture finally hit 100% biodiesel, or close enough to it, to cause the Duramax to want to shut-down. I would just run high % bio, not 100. I'm sure that others will have better/more thorough answers for you.
